[origin: EP0451488A1] The terminal clamp has a main body (4) with a main aperture (3) that fits over the terminal post of the battery and has a slit end (A) that leads to a section that receives a screw (12). The screw threads into a captive nut located in a recess. The nut has a formed 'V' groove that locates against angled surfaces on the clamp. When the screw is tightened the force on the angled surfaces cause the gap (A) to close and a radial force is applied to the post.
