Abstract (en)

A vehicle lifting jack comprises four arms (1, 2, 3, 4) which are articulated in relation to one another and arranged in the form of a parallelogram. A pin (5) is situated in one diagonal of the latter. A stirrup (8) for holding and supporting the vehicle is situated at the top of the parallelogram. The lower arm of the parallelogram, which leaves from its rear top, is extended at the bottom, forming the support foot of the jack. The stirrup (8) has a tubular part (11) which is freely articulated, with great play in all directions about a transverse axis of the extension of the rear upper arm (1) of the parallelogram. The upper part of the rear transverse branch of the profile of the stirrup (8) has, close to its mouth and forming a part thereof, a zone in a rearwardly inclined plane. The extension of the rear upper arm (1) has, projecting from the internal face of each of its two parallel wings, elastic means (15) which are opposite and directed towards the middle vertical plane of said arm, each of them bearing elastically against the corresponding longitudinal edge of the tubular part (11) of the stirrup (8). The stirrup (8) is held by at least one spring (16) and, in relation to the extension of the arm on which it is articulated, in an intermediate position. <IMAGE>
