The device comprises a processing unit (8) containing: - a means for digitising the signal representing the luminous intensity received by the cells, - a means (15) for determining the actual size of at least some of the particles, - a means (14) for determining the actual luminous intensity, - a means (16) for storing at least one table giving the correlation between the theoretical size of the particles and the theoretical luminous intensity for these particles, - a means (17) for comparing the actual values of size and luminous intensity and the corresponding theoretical values of size and luminous intensity, - and a unit (18) for the addressing and selecting of ejector members depending on the result of the comparison.
