Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0452704A2] 2.1. The variety of printing operations to be carried out requires printing machines to be equipped in an increasingly comprehensive fashion with different auxiliary units. However, at the same time the irregularity of the recurrence of printing operations of the same kind means that the individual auxiliary units are rarely completely utilised. Thus, the necessity of finding cost-effective compromises is to be weighed against the desire for a greater production range. <??>2.2. The printing machine system according to the invention consists of a plurality of printing machines which can be operated both independently of one another and also together and which have individual printing mechanisms and units. A further unit which is spacially assigned to a first printing machine can be functionally assigned to a second printing machine which does not have this further unit. Means for feeding a web of printed material, with a suitable running of the web, from the second printing machine to the functionally assigned further unit of the first printing machine are provided and a drive motor of the functionally assigned further unit can be synchronised directly or indirectly with the second printing machine by means of an electrical synchronisation device. <??>2.3. The device can be used on all printing machine systems with printing machines which can be divided up into units. <IMAGE>
