Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0453436A2] A cutting device comprises a band-saw blade (1, 1'; 21, 22; 25, 26, 29) with a back area (4, 4'; 29, 34) and a front tooth area (2, 2'; 31, 33), the thickness of which is less than the band thickness in the back area (4, 4'; 34). The cross-section of the band-saw blade (1, 1'; 21, 22, 25, 26, 29) is designed to be symmetric with regard to the centre axis for a centre cut. Lying between the tooth area (2, 2') and the back area (4, 4'; 29, 34) is a transition area (3, 3'), with or without lateral concave flanks which lie within imaginary wedge surfaces. For the lateral cutting-off of boards from squared timber, the band-saw blade (21, 22, 25, 26, 29) has teeth (31, 33) which are bevelled only in one direction so that the teeth in the endless band-saw blade converge towards one another. In the cutting device, the teeth (31, 33) are directed towards the material to be cut, e.g. the squared timber (20). During the feed, a cut-off board (23, 24, 27, 28, 32) automatically runs laterally out of the feed path. The cross-sectional shape produced by grinding or rolling comprises a hard-alloy refinement (Stellite facing) which is applied by welding. The cut leads to the material to be cut being split up into two boards which run past the tooth flanks and in the transition area without contact. Furthermore, the cutting device can have guide wedges (12, 13, 30) following the band-saw blade. <IMAGE>
