Un dispositif de stockage sélectif de pièces et de jetons comporte une pluralité de compartiments statiques (15), destinés à des pièces individuelles respectives, s'étendant depuis un canal (19) définissant, sur un support plan, un trajet pour la pièce qui tombe, et disposés côte à côte le long d'au moins une rangée, et comprenant chacun une ouverture d'introduction (15a) commandée par des premiers volets (20) destinés à dévier les pièces et à fermer l'ouverture, ainsi qu'une ouverture de sortie (25) commandée par des deuxièmes volets réservés exclusivement à la fermeture, une pluralité de relais bistables étant associée aux premiers et deuxièmes volets des compartiments afin d'amener, d'après un actionnement programmé, chaque volet à une position de fermeture stable ou respectivement à une position stable de passage de pièces.
