In a working cylinder in the form of a pneumatically operable cylinder for the activation of ventilating and fire-protection valves, a catch plunger (25; 97) is provided, and, when the piston rod (5) is extended in the event of fire, a catch element (17, 23) arranged on the piston (3) of the working cylinder reaches behind the catch plunger (25; 97) in such a way that the ventilating and fire-protection valve moved into the open position by the working cylinder remains in the open position. A manipulating valve (31; 83) preferably located on the housing or on the catch mechanism of the working cylinder and fed by the working pressure of the working cylinder is provided for unlocking the catch plunger. At a predetermined maximum value of the pneumatic pressure, the manipulating valve shifts into a position in which the catch plunger can be moved into the catch position under the effect of spring force or with the assistance of pneumatic pressure force. After a preceding drop in pressure and during renewed pressure build-up, the catch plunger can be moved counter to spring force by means of the manipulating valve (31; 83) into an unlocked position in which the piston (3) of the working cylinder can be moved free of locking between extended and retracted position in order to open or close the ventilating and fire-protection valve (n). <IMAGE>

Bei einem Arbeitszylinder in Form eines pneumatisch beaufschlagbaren Zylinders für die Betätigung von Lüftungs- und Brandschutzklappen ist ein Rastierstößel (25;97) vorgesehen, bei welchem bei ausgefahrener Kolbenstange (5) im Brandfall ein am Kolben (3) des Arbeitszylinders angeordnetes Rastierelement (17,23) hintergreift, derart, daß die durch den Arbeitszylinder in offene Position bewegte Lüftungs- und Brandschutzklappe in geöffneter Position verbleibt. Zum Entriegeln des Rastierstößels ist ein vorzugsweise am Gehäuse oder am Rastiermechanismus des Arbeitszylinders befindliches Schaltventil (31;83) vorgesehen, welches vom Arbeitsdruck des Arbeitszylinders gespeist ist. Das Schaltventil schaltet bei einem vorbestimmten Maximaldruckwert des pneumatischen Druckes in eine Position um, in welcher der Rastierstößel unter Einwirkung von Federkraft bzw. unter Unterstützung pneumatischer Druckkraft in die Rastierposition bewegbar ist. Mit Hilfe des Schaltventils (31;83) ist der Rastierstößel nach vorangegangener Druckabsenkung und bei erneutem Druckaufbau gegen Federkraft in eine entriegelte Position bewegbar, in welcher der Kolben (3) des Arbeitszylinders verriegelungsfrei zwischen ausgefahrener und zurückgezogener Position bewegbar ist, um die Lüftungs- und Brandschutzklappe (n) zu öffnen oder zu schließen. <IMAGE>
