Abstract (en)
[origin: JPH04228817A] PURPOSE: To improve the sound damping while lowering the surface temperature of an exhaust gas muffler. CONSTITUTION: The housing 1 of an exhaust gas muffler has an inlet 2 and outlet 3 and is divided to plural chambers I to III by the partition 4 with a connection pipe 5. The exhaust gas flows through this housing 1 while turning over its direction plural times. The outlet 3 is composed of a perforated inner tube 6 surrounded by the outer tube 7 spaced therefrom and the housing 1 has a double wall with a heat resistant intermediate layer 10. A tube resonator 8 is continued to a perforated resonator formed by the perforated inner tube 6 and outer tube 7. Further, the inner wall 9 of the housing wall is a wave shape and the inner wall 9 of a solid propagated sound damping intermediate layer 10 is fixed to the outer wall.
