[origin: EP0455849A1] In a process for applying a decoration of sublimatable dyes to a substrate (10), a colour carrier (12) is laid on the substrate (10) and the colour is transferred to the substrate by the i/r heating of the carrier (12). Here, the carrier is heated to temperatures below 170 DEG C depending on the plastic of the substrate and the carrier is pressed on the substrate over its entire surface by means of electrostatic charges and vacuum. The side of the substrate (10) to which the decoration is transferred is heated to a lower temperature than the opposite side of the substrate.
