[origin: EP0456078A2] The laboratory dyeing of samples made of cloth runs must correspond to the continuous dyeing conditions encountered in practice, in order to achieve comparable dyeing results. For this, provision is made to join the sample piece to form a tube and to push it onto a roller which continues to rotate not only during application of the dye but also during the steaming operation. For executing this dyeing-steaming cycle in the laboratory, it is advisable to arrange the dyeing roller on a swivel lever which is pivotable from a dyeing position below the dye application apparatus into a steaming position below a steamer hood. For steaming, the steamer hood merely requires to be moved downwards, in order to immerse the dyeing roller completely in the steam atmosphere. <IMAGE>
