[origin: EP0456137A2] A pipetting apparatus is used for suction and/or for filling vessels, preferably capillary tubes, by capillary action and for blowing liquids from vessels, preferably capillary tubes. The apparatus consists of a housing (1) with a receiver, preferably a capillary tube receiver (13, 14), a pump (2), preferably a vane cell pump, for conveying air in two directions (suction direction and blowing direction), and an air channel leading from the receiver (13, 14) to the pump (2). In order to simplify and improve a pipetting apparatus of this type, a valve (7) is provided in the air channel, which valve (7) in the rest position seals off the air channel and can be made to open. <IMAGE>
