[origin: WO9108345A1] Described is a cover for expansion gaps in roads, comprising individual prefabricated elements each with a cover plate (1), the elements being joined to each other to form a seal by hollow-section connector strips of elastomeric material running in planes at right angles to the expansion gap. Each individual element comprises, in addition to the cover plate (1), two hollow-section edge strips anchored in the floor (7) of the expansion gap (14) on each side of the gap, plus an elastomeric-material shear connection located between the edge strips and the cover plate. Used for this purpose is an elastomeric strip (11), corrugated when viewed in horizontal section, whose corrugations match those of the edge plates (2) of the edge strips (3).
