[origin: EP0457273A1] In an apparatus for compressive shrinking of flat or tubular textile knitwear, on which the knitwear is shrunk in a shrinking channel (11) formed by a shrinking roller (14) and a shrinking cloth (12) partly surrounding this roller, the shrinking roller (14) is covered with a covering 15 that is elastic in radial direction, advisably with a surface made of felt or wool, for improving the roller-facing surface of the knitwear, so that the knitwear is worked simultaneously from both sides by e.g. felt surfaces and thereby compressively shrunk. <IMAGE>
