[origin: EP0457718A1] The clamp element (1) of a weft clamp, usable for weft insertion organs of gripper looms, consists of a clamping tongue (2) and a fork-shaped part (3,4). One shank (4) of this fork-shaped part serves on the one hand to secure the clamp element in the weft insertion organ (insertion gripper or transfer gripper) and on the other hand as a spring element; the other shank is the pressure part (3) which is accessible to the influence of force at the side of the gripper head for opening the thread clamp. The clamping element allows constructions of grippers having a low mass to be easily cleaned from fibre fly. <IMAGE>
