Thread severing device for a spindle of a spinning or twisting frame with an annular body (32), attachable between a tube receiving device (2) of the spindle and a winding point of the spindle. 2.1 For severing threads of high tensile strength, high thread draw-off forces are require on known cutters which can lead to unwinding of the thread from the tube. 2.2 The body (14) has an essentially pot-shaped form and the edge provided with notches (11) faces the winding point at an incline of about 45 DEG to about 65 DEG in relation to the spindle axis (24). 2.3 Application on ring spinning frames. <IMAGE>
