[origin: EP0458394A1] In a box (1), in particular a paintbox, the upwardly open compartment can be closed by a lid (2) mounted pivotably on the box (1), the lid (2) being securable in the closed position by a releasable closure (12, 14, 15). On the box (1), there is provided in a recess (11) in the edge region of the lid (2) a push button (12) which is to be actuated from above and which is fastened on the box (1) pivotably about an axis (13), there being provided on the lid (2) and on the push button (12) closure elements (14, 15) which engage positively in one another in the closed position and which come out of engagement by pivoting the push button (12). With the invention, a box (1) is produced with a closure (12, 14, 15) which is simple to manufacture and which can be actuated conveniently from above. The closure (12, 14, 15) can also be actuated easily with low construction height of the box (1). <IMAGE>
