[origin: WO9009506A2] A viewing assembly includes a piece of transparent material (1) which is to be mounted within a door. A reflective surface (23) is mounted on the outer side of the transparent material (1), such that it can be seen by a person on the inside of the door, who is then able to see objects on the ground near the outside of the door. A bar extends horizontally across the inside of the transparent material to define a boundary between an image seen in the reflective and an image seen through the transparent material alone. A flap (50) is pivotably mounted to the inside of the door and includes a viewing slot and an angle protrusion (52) which is at generally the same horizontal level as the slot when the slot is in its rest position, but allows the user to see out through the slot when the flap is pivoted slightly. A plate is provided between the transparent material and the flap, with the plate defining a viewing aperture (42), the area of which is substantially less than the surface area of the transparent material. These features assist in one-way viewing through the transparent material. Also disclosed are features allowing the device to be mounted in a door such that it cannot be removed from the outside of the door.

Un ensemble de visualisation comprend un morceau de matériau transparent (1) à monter dans une porte. Une surface réfléchissante (23) est montée sur le côté extérieur du matériau transparent (1), de sorte qu'une personne se trouvant du côté intérieur de la porte puisse la voir, et puisse alors voir des objets se trouvant sur le sol à proximité du côté extérieur de ladite porte. Une barre s'étend horizontalement sur l'intérieur du matériau transparent afin de définir une limite entre une image vue dans la surface réfléchissante et une image vue à travers le matériau transparent seul. Un rabat (50) est monté pivotant sur le côté intérieur de la porte et comprend une fente de visualisation ainsi qu'une saillie (52) en angle située sensiblement au même niveau horizontal que ladite fente lorsque celle-ci se trouve dans sa position de repos, mais permet à l'utilisateur de voir par la fente lorsque ledit rabat pivote légèrement. On a prévu une plaque entre le matériau transparent et le rabat, laquelle définit une ouverture (42) de visualisation, dont l'aire est sensiblement inférieure à l'aire de surface du matériau transparent. Ces caractéristiques aident à voir unidirectionnellement à travers le matériau transparent. On décrit également des caractéristiques permettant de monter ledit dispositif dans une porte, de sorte que l'on ne puisse pas le retirer de l'extérieur de la porte.
