[origin: EP0459098A1] The invention relates to a printing machine with an impression cylinder (1) and a number of printing units, the format cylinders (2-7) of which can be thrown onto and thrown off from the cylinder, and with a central wheel (13) which is driven coaxially with the impression cylinder (1) and with which all format cylinder toothed wheels (2', 7') mate. To achieve the aim of providing a printing machine of this type, with which it is also possible to print with format cylinders, the format length or diameters of which do not fit exactly into the tooth pitch pattern, the central wheel (13) is mounted freely rotatably on a shaft pin (12) of the impression cylinder (1) or on a pin flush therewith and the impression cylinder (1) is provided with a controllable drive (18) which drives the latter with a peripheral speed which corresponds essentially to the measured peripheral speed of the format cylinders. <IMAGE>
