[origin: EP0459107A1] The invention relates to a method of oil supply for a two-stage rotary vane pump (1) with expansion chambers (17, 21) and other points (12, 51, 54) to be supplied with lubricating oil and with an oil sump (72); in order to be able to dispense with a hydraulic pressure pump and yet ensure an adequate oil supply, it is proposed that oil be pumped from the oil sump (72) by means of the backing stage (11, 14a) of the pump (1) into an intermediate sump (27) arranged above the other points to be supplied with oil, that it be fed from this intermediate sump under the force of gravity to other points (51, 54) to be supplied with oil and that from these points it returns into the oil sump (72). <IMAGE>
