A franking module is installed in a personal computer in place of a slot-in floppy disk drive module. The technically available means of the personal computer are used to provide not only control of the franking operations but also, along with a telecommunications module and a modem, remote value calculation and remote value specification. Ein Frankiermodul (1) wird anstelle eines Laufwerkeinschubes in einen Personalcomputer (2) gesetzt. Unter Verwendung der technisch vorhandenen Mittel des Personalcomputers (2) wird die Steuerung der Frankieraufgaben und unter Inanspruchnahme eines Telekommunikationsmoduls (5) und eines Modems werden ebenfalls durch die Mittel des Personalcomputers (2) eine Fernwertverrechnung und Fernwertvorgabe realisiert. Der Frankiermodul (1) enthält zu diesem Zweck ein Prozessorsystem (8) und ein Druckwerk (11) sowie Speicher für Gebührenabrechnungen (9) und einen für grafische Daten zum Erzeugen eines Werbedruckes (10). <IMAGE>
