For the purpose of providing a compact and practical construction for automatic operation with greater hygiene, the invention provides that the side walls of the collecting and compacting space are formed from a row of mutually parallel screening bars (14) which are fastened to a holding plate (12) at their rear end (14'), each have a greater diameter than spacing from the adjacent screening bar in each case and together extend with their free front end (14'') as far as the counterplate (15), and that the pressing plate (16) is arranged movably in the space between the counterplate (15) and holding plate (12) and has holes (42) corresponding to the number of screening bars (14) through which the screening bars reach.
