The invention relates to a source for generating essentially monochromatic X-ray radiation, having an anode for generating X-ray radiation, a target, which is surrounded by the anode, for converting the X-ray radiation into fluorescent radiation, and having a screen, which is located between the target and the anode, for screening the target from electrons. In this case, a higher yield of fluorescent radiation is achieved by the screen containing an element having a high atomic number.

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Strahlenquelle zur Erzeugung einer im wesentlichen monochromatischen Röntgenstrahlung mit einer Anode (3) zur Erzeugung von Röntgenstrahlung, einem von der Anode umschlossenen Target zur Umsetzung von Röntgenstrahlung in Fluoreszenzstrahlung und mit einem zwischen dem Target und der Anode befindlichen Schirm (35) zur Abschirmung des Targets gegen Elektronen. Dabei wird eine höhere Ausbeute an Fluoreszenzstrahlung dadurch erreicht, daß der Schirm ein Element mit hoher Ordnungszahl enthält.
