[origin: EP0460271A1] A method and a device are proposed for sucking up liquid (12) from a container (10), by sucking up the liquid through a (first) pipe (16) connectable to a vacuum source. In order largely to prevent a liquid-gas mixture being drawn in via the pipe (16), a second pipe (28) opening into the container emerges from the pipe (16), the opening (34) of which second pipe lies above that of the first pipe. The opening of the second pipe can be sealed by a float (36). As soon as the opening (30) of the first pipe is no longer sealed by liquid, gas continues to be drawn in only via the opening of the second pipe.
