[origin: EP0461287A1] The invention relates to electrically driven acoustic shock-wave generator which has a coil arrangement (5) and a membrane (19), which can be driven electrically in an impact-like manner by means of the coil arrangement (5), as the electrically conductive elements (5, 19), by means of which membrane (19) shock waves can be introduced into an acoustic propagation medium which is adjacent to one side of the membrane (19). In this case, it is provided that at least one of the electrically conductive elements (5, 19) contains material which can be converted into the superconducting state, and that means (9 to 16, 23 to 28) are provided for conversion into the superconducting state of the material which is contained in the at least one electrically conductive element (5, 19). <IMAGE>
