[origin: EP0462657A1] The invention relates to a rotating anode X-ray tube having means for changing, as a result of the operating mode, the thermal resistance of the heat dissipation path which dissipates heat from a rotating anode plate (2) via a bearing (5). The cooling time of the rotating anode plate is reduced without unacceptably increasing the bearing temperature, in that a device (7, 11) is provided by means of which the change in the thermal resistance is effected as a function of the temperature change, of a component (3, 7) which also rotates, resulting after switching off the electron beam. <IMAGE>
