[origin: EP0463416A1] In a hammerdrill with speed-changing gearing for two different spindle speeds, which gearing can be changed by means of a control lever (31), it is intended to permit, in addition, a purely percussive chiselling operation with or without spindle locking, via easily operable and obvious operating elements. This is effected by the fact that the rotary drive can likewise be switched off via the control lever (31) of the control gearing and the spindle (4) can be locked. In particular, the control lever (31) has two closed radial cams (30, 42), one (30) of which acts on a spring-mounted shift fork (27) and the other (42) acts on a coupling (10) in order to switch off the rotary drive of the percussion mechanism (5). <IMAGE>
