[origin: EP0463505A1] The subject of the invention is a rail wagon for transporting passenger vehicles by rail, which rail wagon can be loaded and unloaded via the end sides, the motor vehicles being moved preferably by means of their own drive system. The rail wagon is provided with fixed side walls (4), end walls (5) which can be opened and closed and a roof (6) which is lowered in the operating position on to the side and end walls but is upwardly adjustable parallel with itself out of this operating position.
