[origin: EP0464288A2] A plastics boiler 10 has an improved plastics and plastics-glass joint for connecting laboratory ware of different thermal expansion. The plastics joint 30 includes a tubular plastics section 34 having a compression ring 36 secured at its end which receives the labware of lower thermal expansion. The plastics-glass joint alternatively receives a shorter standard tapered glass joint 48. The boiler 10 has a bottom 12 having a chemically-resistant and non-contaminating inner side coating 13 and a chemically-resistant outer side coating 18. A metallic compression ring 14 is heat-shrunk around the bottom of the boiler 10. <IMAGE>
