A procedure for automatically adapting the braking force of a yarn brake located in the hollow spindle axle of a two-for-one twisting spindle to changed spindle speeds is characterised in that the vacuum generated by the suction-air stream of the rotating spindle and therefore dependent on the spindle speed acts on a braking surface (6) of the yarn brake in such a way that, with an increasing or decreasing speed of the two-for-one spindle, this braking surface is brought to bear against the brake body (7) with an increasing or decreasing pressure force. A two-for-one twisting spindle for carrying out this procedure, having a yarn brake which is located above the yarn storage disc in the region of the hollow spindle axle and which has at least one braking surface accommodated in a brake housing and a brake body bearing against the braking surface, is characterised in that the braking surface (6) forms part of a piston (14) which is displaceable in the axial direction in the brake housing (13) and which limits the top side of a vacuum chamber adjacent to the central orifice of the yarn guide channel (2.2) of the yarn storage disc (2.1) <IMAGE>

Ein Verfahren zum selbsttätigen Anpassen der Bremskraft einer in der Spindelhohlachse einer Doppeldraht-Zwirnspindel angeordneten Fadenbremse, an veränderte. Spindeldrehzahlen ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß der von dem Saugluftstrom der rotierenden Spindel erzeugte und damit von der Spindeldrehzahl abhängige Unterdruck derart auf eine Bremsfläche (6) der Fadenbremse einwirkt, daß diese Bremsfläche bei ansteigender oder abnehmender Drehzahl der Doppeldraht-Spindel mit größer oder kleiner werdendem Anpressdruck gegen den Bremskörper (7) zur Anlage gebracht wird. Eine Doppeldraht-Zwirnspindel zur Anwendung dieses Verfahrens mit einer oberhalb der Fadenspeicherscheibe im Bereich der Spindelhohlachse angeordneten Fadenbremse, die mindestens eine in einem Bremsengehäuse untergebrachte Bremsfläche und einen gegen die Bremsfläche anliegenden Bremskörper aufweist, ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß die Bremsfläche (6) einen Teil eines in dem Bremsengehäuse (13) in axialer Richtung verschiebbaren Kolbens (14) bildet, der die Oberseite einer an die zentrale Öffnung des Fadenleitkanals (2.2) der Fadenspeicherscheibe (2.1) anschließenden Unterdruck-Kammer begrenzt. <IMAGE>
