[origin: EP0465796A1] The invention relates to an axial piston machine of the slant axis type with a driving disc rotatably mounted in a housing and a cylindrical drum capable of swivelling in relation to this, which drum is connected to the driving disc so that it can rotate with it by means of pistons axially movable in it and is rotatably supported on a control element absorbing axial and radial forces, which is pivotally supported in a swivel steady bearing fixed to the housing with two guide faces and a cylindrical supporting surface laterally defined by the latter and which is made to swivel by way of an actuator. In order to equip an axial piston machine of the type mentioned at the start with a sensing device which, although of simple design, will permit precise determination of the swivel position of the cylindrical drum, according to the invention a sensing device (31, 32) directly registering the particular swivel position of the control element (7) and hence of the cylindrical drum (6) with a sensor (32) movably carried or supported in the housing (1, 2) is provided, which sensor is held on an inclined slanting surface arrangement (31) of the control element (7). <IMAGE>
