Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0467729A1] The invention relates to: A method for packaging a charge limited by a lateral face which is closed on itself and two end faces, by means of a plastic film, in which: - an initial end portion of a band of film drawn from a reel of film is joined to the lateral face of the charge; - a relative pivoting movement is performed of the axis of the reel of film and of the charge about a first pivot axis whose general direction is parallel to the lateral face, and the band of film is progressively laid over this lateral face; - the film is laid over at least one end face which it is desired to cover; - the band of film is cut and the tail portion thereof is attached to the laid film or to the charge, characterised in that there is laid on the end face, which it is desired to cover, film drawn from the reel of film and, for this purpose, at least one pass is executed in which: - a relative pivoting movement is performed of the axis of the reel of film and of the charge about a second pivot axis whose general direction is at right angles to the first pivot axis and to the axis of the reel of film; - the reel of film is brought into a general position close to the end face to be covered or to its extension; and, in this situation, the relative pivoting movement is performed about the first pivot axis. <IMAGE>
