[origin: EP0468254A2] The invention relates to a transverse cutter for printed webs, comprising a cutter cylinder 3 and a pair of parallel cutters 4a, 4b arranged thereon and a stationary counter-cutter 4c. Arranged between the cutters 4a, 4b are suction and blowing openings 9 which can be subjected via a valve control, as a function of the rotary position of the cutter cylinder, alternately to a vacuum and blowing air. A waste strip 8 cut off during the transverse cutting is held, by the vacuum, between the cutters of the suction and blowing openings 9 and transported to a point at which it is blown away by means of blowing air and removed via a suction hood 12 arranged above the cutter cylinder. The valve control for switching between blowing air and suction air is arranged on the face of the cutter cylinder 3 and has inlet and outlets which are rotationally offset relative to one another and are covered by connections connected to the suction and blowing openings 9 via channels 16a, 16b, 17 in the cutter cylinder 3. <IMAGE>
