[origin: EP0468578A1] The invention relates to a process and a device for the automatic sewing of a piece of fabric along its edges. <??>The process is of the type in which a rotating member (12) orientable by pivoting about a vertical axis ZZ' is arranged so as to bear against the fabric upstream of the press foot in order to guide it and drive it upstream of the sewing zone. According to the invention, the rotating member (12) is driven in rotation by a roller (16) coming to bear against said member in its upper zone, through which the vertical pivot axis ZZ' passes, in such a way that the bearing of the roller against this member leaves the latter free to pivot, especially at a high frequency, about the axis ZZ', whatever the coefficient of friction between the roller and rotating member. <IMAGE>
