[origin: EP0468832A1] Furnace for holding the temperature and for metallurgical treatment of a metal in the liquid state, comprising a closed container for liquid metal, equipped with a burner of the oxygen-fuel type, a porous plug at the bottom of the container for injecting an inert stirring gas, and opening means for introducing and/or removing metallurgical treatment products, characterised in that the container is made in the shape of a thermally insulated enclosure (1) capable of tilting about a support axis (XY, with two passages with a vertical component, one (5) in the form of a chimney opening into the enclosure near the vault of the enclosure (1) and used for introducing liquid metal and metallurgical treatment products, the other in the shape of a spout opening at the bottom of the enclosure and whose high outlet comes into a position for tapping off the liquid metal in a tilted position of the said enclosure, the oxygen-fuel burner (17) being mounted at the vault. <IMAGE>
