Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0469415A2] A sealing strip arrangement for a rotary piston engine comprises a rotor (16) which revolves in a casing (10), divides the latter into working chambers (14) and has a slot (18) at at least one vertex. The slot (18) accommodates a radially movable sealing strip (30) which nestles against a running surface (12) in the interior of the casing in a sealing manner. To improve sealing between the sealing strip and the running surface (12) of the casing, the slot (18) has a narrower inner region (20) and a wider outer region (24), each with radially extending side walls (21, 22; 25, 26) connected to one another by radially outward-directed step faces (27, 28). The sealing strip (30) comprises a narrower bottom part (32), accommodated by the inner region (20), and a wider top part (38) accommodated by the outer region (24), the transition between the bottom part (32) and the top part (38) being formed at least on one side by a radially inward-pointing projection (42, 44). The sealing strip (30) and the slot (18) are dimensioned in such a way that when the sealing strip (30) is moved towards one side of the slot (18), its top part (38) engages on the side wall (25, 26) of the outer region (24) of the slot (18) and prevents engagement between an outer region of the bottom part (32) of the sealing strip (30) and an outer region of the side wall (21, 22) of the inner region (20) of the slot (18). <IMAGE>
