[origin: EP0469465A1] In an ink writing utensil having a nib (5) and an ink reservoir (2), there is arranged between the two an ink regulator (3) which is provided with a capillary ink duct (17) for supplying ink to the nib (5) and with a group, adjacent to the nib (5), of capillary compensation chambers (10 to 12) which are bounded by transverse ribs, are connected to the ink reservoir (2) via the ink duct (17) and are connected to a non-capillary aeration duct (14) which is connected to the ink reservoir (2) via a compensation chamber (12) and a regulating gap (20) adjoining the compensation chamber (12). The ink regulator (3) has a further group, adjacent to the ink reservoir (2), of capillary compensation chambers (13) which are connected to the aeration duct (14) and each of which is connected by a capillary gap (19) to an ink supply duct (18), leading to the ink reservoir (2), of lesser capillarity compared to the capillary gaps (19). <IMAGE>
