[origin: EP0470329A1] A device for stacking sheets (3) has in at least one belt plane (12) a belt (17) of predetermined length and an endless belt (26). In the belt plane (12), rigid rollers (20 to 25) and three guide rollers (13; 14; 15), which can be displaced by means of a carriage (11) to alter the belt geometry, are used for spreading out and tensioning the belts (17; 26). As soon as the sheet (3) passes along a direction of movement (32 or 36) into a transport plane (16) formed by the belts (17; 26), a drive (30) displaces the carriage (11) along a rail (8) and over a stack (1) in the same direction of movement (32 or 36), the sheet (3) seized by the belts (17; 26) being conveyed at twice the speed of the carriage (11) to the outer guide roller (13 or 15) and guided around said roller to be deposited onto the stack (1). <IMAGE>
