Abstract (en)

Process for manufacturing an electrical insulator (5) immersed in an intense electrical field, especially between two electrodes (1 and 2) of an electron tube. The insulator (5) is a crystalline body whose free surfaces (7) under vacuum (6) have been treated so as to reduce or eliminate crystallisation defects. The treatment is controlled by measuring a property, especially an optical or mechanical property, of the free surfaces. The breakdown voltage can be multiplied by three or four in relation to conventional insulators and can approach the breakdown voltage of the vacuum. <IMAGE>

Procédé de fabrication d'un isolant électrique (5) plongé dans un champ électrique intense, notamment entre deux électrodes (1 et 2) d'un tube électronique. L'isolant (5) est en un corps cristallin dont les surfaces libres (7) sous vide (6) ont été traitées de manière à réduire ou éliminer les défauts de cristallisation. Le traitement est contrôlé par des mesures d'une propriété, notamment optique ou mécanique, des surfaces libres. La tension de claquage peut être multipliée par trois ou quatre par rapport aux isolants classiques et se rapprocher de la tension de claquage du vide. <IMAGE>
