[origin: WO9114317A1] A multichannel device for digital recording and reproduction of audio signals has a plurality of digital or analog inputs and outputs and one or more digital storage units. In order to provide temporally unlimited possibilities for recording and reproducing with a non-limited number of recording and reproducing channels, to access any point of the recording instantaneously, to carry out risk-free overdubbing and editing and to select any desired duration of fading in and out, a bidirectional interface circuit with inputs and outputs is connected, through a system bus carrying groups of parallel data, to one or more storage modules connected in parallel, a main control circuit is connected to the system bus and to the storage module(s) and is controllable through an operating unit, and each storage module has at least one digital store with an interchangeable storage medium and at least one digital buffer memory. The audio signals to be stored are thus kept in the buffer memory for processing or during interchange of the storage medium.

Un dispositif multicanal d'enregistrement et de reproduction numériques de signaux audio possède une pluralité d'entrées et de sorties numériques ou analogiques et une ou plusieurs mémoires numériques. Ce dispositif permet d'obtenir des possibilités illimitées dans le temps d'enregistrer et de reproduire avec un nombre de canaux illimités pour l'enregistrement et la reproduction, d'avoir accès à n'importe quel point de l'enregistrement instantanément, d'exécuter sans risque le réenregistrement et le montage, et de sélectionner librement la durée d'un fondu sonore. Pour cela, ce dispositif possède un circuit d'interface bidirectionnel pourvu d'entrées et de sorties qui est connecté, par l'intermédiaire d'un bus de système conduisant des groupes de données parallèles, à un ou plusieurs modules de mémoire montés en parallèle, un circuit de commande principal connecté au bus de système et au(x) module(s) de mémoire et pouvant être commandé par une unité de commande; chaque module de mémoire possède au moins une mémoire numérique avec un support d'information interchangeable et au moins une mémoire tampon de sorte que les signaux audio à mettre en mémoire sont gardés dans la mémoire tampon pour être traités ou pendant le changement du support d'information.
