[origin: EP0471911A1] In the opened state, the clamping ring (6) has no parts which connect its two end portions (6a, 6b) to one another, that is to say no clamping device consisting of a clamping lever and connecting lever. As a result, it is less expensive in manufacture than a clamping ring fitted with a clamping device. This is therefore very advantageous because the clamping rings are usually no longer used after the initial opening of a container, but thrown away. Serving for securing the ring in the closed state are a releasing mechanism (8), constructed as a lug, at one end portion (6b) of the ring and a corresponding opening (7) at the other end portion (6a), in the closed state the lug (8) being thrust through the opening (7) and secured in this position by a securing pin. For closing a clamping ring of this type, an inexpensive closing device can be used. <IMAGE>
