[origin: EP0472094A1] A road finisher comprises a first upper structure (3) which is bound to a roadworking machine, and, connected to the supporting structure (3), a second structure (7) which consists of a plate (7) and is suited for determining the plane of the road covering, the roadworking machine being suited for separating out road-covering material and moving in a direction (C); moreover, there are vibrating means (1, 6) for obtaining vertical vibrations of the plate (7) during the movements of the roadworking machine, and control means (8, 9, 10) for controlling the extent of the vibrations and for damping the vibrations which are transmitted to the supporting structure (3); a tamper (11) is suited for the start of the tamping process for the road surface; a protective element (5, 12) is arranged ahead of a connection means (6) which connects the first structure (3) to the plate (7) and serves for preventing particles of surfacing material getting into the connection means (6), the protective element (5, 12) extending at least over the entire length of the connection means (6). <IMAGE>
