The invention relates to the rotor (1) for a Roots vacuum pump with two identical rotors which have an essentially figure-of-eight profile contour comprising four foot profile sections (8, 9) and four head profile sections (11, 12); the object of the invention is to improve the rotor profile contour with the effect of improving the pump characteristics and reducing the cost of manufacture; this object is achieved in that the foot profile contour (8) of the rotors (1) in a rotor-fixed system of co-ordinates (x, y, phi ) has the following characteristics - the y-value corresponding to half the short rotor diameter B where phi = x = o is between 0.5a (a = pitch circle diameter) and a (1- 2ROOT 2/2), - tangential helix angle alpha ( phi ) has the curve shown in Fig.4. <IMAGE>

Die Erfindung bezieht sich auf den Rotor (1) für eine Wälzkolbenvakuumpumpe mit zwei identischen Rotoren, die eine im wesentlichen achtförmige, aus vier Fußprofilabschnitten (8, 9) und vier Kopfprofilabschnitten (11, 12) bestehende Profilkontur aufweisen; Ziel der Erfindung ist eine Verbesserung der Rotorprofilkontur, und zwar mit der Wirkung verbesserter Pumpeigenschaften und eines reduzierten Herstellungsaufwand; dieses Ziel wird dadurch erreicht, daß die Fußprofilkontur (8) der Rotoren (1) in einem rotorfesten Koordinatensystem (x, y, φ) die folgenden Eigenschaften hat der bei φ=<IMAGE>= o dem halben kurzen Rotordurchmesser B entsprechende y-Wert liegt zwischen 0,5 a (a = Wälzkreisdurchmesser) und a (1- √2/2), der Tangentensteigungswinkel α(φ) hat den aus Fig. 4 ersichtlichen Verlauf. <IMAGE> <IMAGE>
