[origin: EP0472857A1] A method for fixing bristle tufts to a plastic bristle carrier is proposed, by melting the bristles of each tuft at their ends on the attachment side with formation of a thickening, by providing the bristle carrier on the bristle-receiving side with holes receiving the thickenings, by pressing the bristle tufts into the bristle carrier by the thickening, by sealing off the space above the bristle-receiving side and between the bristle tufts, surrounding the bristle area in annular fashion, against the bristle carrier, and by the compound rising during the pressing-in under the application of pressure and filling the sealed-off space being displaced and compressed. In addition to further variants of the method, an apparatus for carrying out the method is also described.
