[origin: EP0474065A1] A gas-discharge vessel for compact lamps consists of an evacuated or gas-filled outer sleeve, which is at least partially transparent, is closed in a sealed manner on all sides and is equipped with at least two electrodes having connections for supplying power from a ballast. In order to achieve an illuminating surface that is as large as possible with a compact construction it is provided that the diameter of the outer sleeve corresponds approximately to the external diameter of the compact lamp and the electrode connections are arranged such that they can be connected directly but detachably to the ballast to form a complete compact lamp.
