[origin: EP0474167A2] A loudspeaker (5) is mounted on the surface board of a ceiling with front and back sides by: forming in the surface board an opening (1) for mounting the speaker (5); preparing an annular back plate (3) of deformable construction and of a size, in undeformed state, greater than the opening size; deforming the back plate into a shape in which it can be passed through the opening; passing the deformed back plate (3) through the opening (1) from the front side to the back side; restoring the back plate to its undeformed state; placing the speaker in mounting position over and in the opening and against the board on its front side; and connecting the speaker (5) and back plate (3) to clamp the board therebetween and thereby to securely mount the speaker. The entire procedure is carried out efficiently from the front side of the surface material, whereby there is no necessity of a separate access to the back side. <IMAGE>
