For a selection magnet for selecting needles in the case of textile machines, it is proposed to construct the retaining pole region as two separated partial regions between which the control pole region is located. It is provided for the control pole region that this region is formed by the limb ends of a U- or Y-shaped magnetic core and that energising coils are arranged on the limb ends. The retaining pole regions are in this case constructed as permanently magnetic regions, permanent magnets being arranged in each case between two pole shoes. In addition, an electromagnetically controllable auxiliary pole region can be arranged next to the control pole region. <IMAGE>

Für einen Auswahlmagneten (1) für die Nadelauswahl bei Textilmaschinen wird vorgeschlagen, den Haltepolbereich als zwei beabstandete Teilbereiche (3,3') auszubilden, zwischen denen sich der Steuerpolbereich (4) befindet. Für den Steuerpolbereich (4) ist vorgesehen, daß dieser durch die Schenkelenden eines U- oder Y-förmigen Magnetkerns gebildet wird und daß auf den Schenkelenden Erregerspulen angeordnet sind. Die Haltepolbereiche (3,3') sind dabei als permanentmagnetische Bereiche ausgebildet, wobei Permanentmagnete zwischen jeweils zwei Polschuhen angeordnet sind. Zusätzlich kann neben dem Steuerpolbereich (4) ein elektromagnetisch steuerbarer Hilfspolbereich angeordnet sein. <IMAGE>
