Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0475054A1] For buildings having a sloping roof (D), the invention provides a dormer window (10) having a frame (14) surrounding an opening (12) and a structure (20) engaging over said frame, which structure consists of a supporting framework (22) having glazing (24) and is arranged pivotably or slidably on a supporting frame (15). Articulated close to the lower part (18) of the supporting frame (15) on both sides are hydraulic, jointly actuable telescopic supports (28), the pressure cylinders of which act on a lower joint (32) and the pistons of which act, for example, on an upper joint (36). The supporting joints (32, 36) can be slidable and lockable along side spars (38) of the supporting framework (22) and along side parts (17) of the supporting frame (15), respectively. Load distributors, preferably tie members (30) welded to upper and lower square-tube beams, are firmly connected to the frame (14). A cover (40) engages over the pivot bearing (26) in a contact-free manner. In the embodiment as a sliding dormer window (Figs. 5, 6), in particular horizontal rails (46) are provided, on or in which run travelling mechanisms (50) which are laterally supported by guide bearings (54) and are connected to lifting cylinders (58, 60) which permit lifting and lowering of the supporting framework (22) with respect to the frame (14). <IMAGE>
