[origin: EP0476225A2] After locking bolt connections are released, the individual telescoping sections of a telescopic jib of a crane are extended and retracted with only one single-stage hydraulic piston-cylinder unit and are bolted in the respectively extended or retracted position. One end of the piston-cylinder unit is linked to the jib link piece terminating the inner end of the outer section, and the part of the piston-cylinder unit which is movable relative to the linked part is provided with a hydraulically operable driving device which can be coupled to receptacles of the telescoping sections. So that the telescopic cylinder is stressed with only a smaller buckling length, the piston rod (12) of the piston-cylinder unit (7) is linked to the jib link piece (8). The driving device (19) is arranged in the end area of the cylinder (18) from which the piston rod (12) emerges. <IMAGE>
