Apparatuses for stacking sheets, in particular paper or cardboard sheets, onto a pallet are known, which have a raisable and lowerable laying-down platform, on which the pallet rests during stacking, and an auxiliary stacking platform which can be moved into the region of the laying-down platform and serves for the intermediate stacking of the sheets during a pallet change. <??>According to the invention, the height of a pallet (7) is determined by means of a vertically moveable feeler element (skid 14) which can be laid onto the pallet surface and moved over the entirety thereof. To this end, the maximum upward deflection is measured during the movement of the feeler element over the pallet surface. The pallet height thus determined permits problem-free transfer of the intermediate stack (22) from the auxiliary stacking platform (8) onto a new pallet (7). <IMAGE>

Es sind Vorrichtungen zum Stapeln von Bögen, insbesondere Papier- oder Kartonbögen, auf eine Palette bekannt, die eine heb- und senkbare Ablageplattform, auf der die Palette beim Stapeln aufliegt, und eine in den Bereich der Ablageplattform einfahrbare Hilfsstapelplattform zum Zwischenstapeln der Bögen während eines Palettenwechsels aufweisen. Nach der Erfindung wird die Höhe einer Palette (7) mit einem vertikal beweglichen, auf die Palettenoberfläche auflegbaren und über die gesamte Palettenoberfläche bewegbaren Tastelement (Kufe 14) bestimmt. Dazu wird bei der Bewegung des Tastelements über die Palettenoberfläche die maximale Auslenkung nach oben gemessen. Die so bestimmte Palettenhöhe ermöglicht eine problemlose Übergabe des Zwischenstapels (22) von der Hilfsstapelplattform (8) auf eine neue Palette (7) <IMAGE>
