[origin: EP0476591A2] The invention relates to a protective helmet, in particular a helmet for motorcyclists. The helmet possesses a new opening and closing device, in which the chin-strap is guided on the shell of the helmet by means of two rails and can be pulled out forwards. When the chin-strap is open, the whole of the user's chin area is exposed, and the helmet can be easily removed. In the closed state, the padding of the chin-strap engages behind the wearer's chin and jaw area, so that the helmet fits securely. The helmet also possesses a two-phase ventilation system for slow and fast travel. <IMAGE>
